While Silicon Valley, Silicon Beach, and New York are huge meccas for Social Media and Startups in the United States, the pacific northwest and Greater Seattle Area is also rising in popularity.
Many popular tech companies hail from the Evergreen State of Washington – including Microsoft, Amazon.com, Boeing, and Nintendo of America. In return, this provides a great area for technologically influenced businesses to start from the ground up, and integrate Social Media into their list of services or advertising.
There are a few great events that your Startup might want to look into attending, if you reside in the Washington area of the Pacific Northwest. The first one is called GeekWire – which is actually a local news site, that hosts a series of events throughout the year. GeekWire hosts a variety of events, including their Summit in March, a Summer bash in June, Seattle 2.0 Startup Day, and GeekWire Gala in December. These are definitely some great events to attend, and create new business relationships while learning from Tech and Social Media titans of the area.
The second event is called Seattle Startup Weekend, which is part of a bigger series of global events by Startup Weekend. Seattle Startup Weekend is a competition of sorts, for entrepreneurs to launch a Startup from start to finish in just 3 days. It’s also a great way to network and even develop future working relationships with people in the area. It’s only $99 and starts on November 16th.
